A 60s-Inspired Wedding Weekend in New York

Abbie and Bruce’s vintage New York City wedding unfolded like a love letter to old New York. From the very beginning, the celebration carried the rhythm of the city. It felt elegant and grounded. History, fashion, and feeling shaped the weekend as it unfolded.

The weekend began with a candle-lit rehearsal dinner in a New York City brownstone. The following morning, the bride got ready inside a Gilded Age mansion on Long Island. Throughout the weekend, she wove vintage fashion throughout the details. Each piece was inherited, sourced, or inspired by the sophisticated women in her family tree. By dusk, guests gathered for a candle-lit ceremony with live string quartet. As night fell, the music carried softly through the room as The O’Tooles whispered their vows. The setting felt overall reverent and grounded in tradition.

The celebration revealed itself in its most intimate moments. Significantly, their first-dance, choreographed to Tony Bennett’s Spring in Manhattan, was rehearsed without a soul present. Later in the evening, they cut their 1950s-inspired vintage wedding cake. Finally, the O’Tooles closed the evening with a petal-toss grand exit. Abbie dressed in a Jackie Onassis-Kennedy–inspired outfit that was effortlessly iconic. As a New York City wedding photographer, these are the weddings I’m drawn to the most. Above all, I adore weddings that are rooted in history, movement, and memory. Thus, the editorial wedding photography feels timeless, and unmistakably New York.
