Nick & Annalisa
Nick and Annalisa’s wedding day on June 3, 2023, was a celebration that epitomized the depth of their love, their unique journey, and the significance of every heartfelt moment.
Nick and Annalisa’s story began freshman year of high school when Nick decided to “ask the cute girl for help with geometry homework.” He was friend-zoned for years, until finally senior year, Annalisa felt her blood boiling when she realized that he was crushing on another girl. Rumor or not, she snatched him up and they have been together ever since. Their hearts are fuller and their happiness is deeper being with one another. From those innocent beginnings, their love has flourished, taking them on countless adventures around the world. Yet, their hearts have found their way to Brooklyn, where they have built a life and partnership that’s as vibrant and diverse as the city itself.
Planning and Dreaming Over Shared Drinks
In the months leading up to the wedding, we bonded and grew to know one another over drinks and pizza down the street from where we all live, we laughed and shared stories, discussing their vision for the day. They were especially inspired by the iconic couples of popular movies and television shows: the sly smiles Jim and Pam share in The Office, Matt and Jenna’s infectious laughs from 13 Going on 30, and the iconic dance party at the end of Will Smith’s Hitch. It was clear that their focus was on staying true to themselves and celebrating in a way that resonated with their personalities. Their dedication to infusing every moment with joy and authenticity was inspiring, and I was determined to capture it a cinematic way.
I also had the pleasure of getting to know Nick and Annalisa’s story deeply through their engagement session in their apartment. Seeing the life they have built together: notes written, laughs shared, and a special photo album from high school made it all so much deeper. On the last page of the album, Annalisa had written a quote to Nick that read: “The end? Not even close.” That was the moment it clicked for me. It took a decade to get to this wedding, but their love never changed… it only grew deeper and deeper. They knew what they wanted, what they share together, and the life they desire to create and live. That’s what made their wedding so real and so genuine. Their love is a love that spans decades and many memories.
An Intimate Gathering the Night Before
After those months of planning and meeting together, the weekend finally arrived. One of the most endearing aspects of Nick and Annalisa’s wedding was the connection they shared with their guests. With a small gathering of around 25 of their closest friends and family members, they created an atmosphere that was not about numbers, but about the profound connections they had formed over the years. The Welcome Party the night before the wedding was full of stories, laughs, and sentimental moments shared between friends and family.
The Morning Of: Getting Ready & Running the Streets of New York
The morning of the wedding, I walked over to their Brooklyn apartment, where excitement and nerves mingled in the air. Together, we embarked on a journey through the city they love, taking the subway to the Lower East Side. Their adventurous spirit shone through as they strolled hand in hand, Annalisa gracefully jaywalking in her elegant wedding dress.
One of the most heartwarming moments was when Nick and Annalisa insisted on exploring a local bookstore. Their desire for books, both as props for photographs and as a personal touch, spoke volumes about their shared passions and the thoughtful details that made their wedding truly unique.
No Brooklyn experience would be complete without a slice of pizza, and Nick and Annalisa were determined to indulge in this tradition before their wedding. As they wandered the streets, laughter echoing around them, it was evident that they were savoring every precious moment together.
The Ceremony
The wedding took place on their own street – Smith Street – in a charming Brooklyn restaurant, a setting that perfectly encapsulated their intimate celebration. Their vows were exchanged with an adorable twist – a game of rock-paper-scissors determined who would speak first, adding a lighthearted and unforgettable touch to the proceedings.
Celebrating & Dancing the Night Away
After saying “I do,” we all danced the night away, celebrating the love between Nick and Annalisa with excitement and happiness. In capturing Nick and Annalisa’s wedding, I was reminded of the profound beauty that lies in simplicity, authenticity, and the connections that matter most. Their day was a testament to the enduring power of love, friendship, and the memories that are etched into the very fabric of our lives. Their love story is one that, in their words, is like Jim and Pam: a long-time love story that’s worth fighting for no matter what.
